Question 1: What is it about images for scientific applications that distinguishes them from other graphical images?

SCIENTIFIC IMAGES - graphic representation, values & information, annotations and data orgranization information
GRAPHICAL IMAGES - pictures, appearance, pixel and color information

Question 2: Is there any way to digitize an analog audio signal that does NOT result in the loss of data?

Question 3: What is perceptual codec?

CODEC - encoding/decoding
A form of lossy compression that is based on human perception. (ex. MP3 compression does not keep information about sound outside of what is audible by humans)
